One by one this off-season, we’ve seen a number of TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals swap out their irons in favor of RocketBladez Tour. The trend started with Sean O’Hair in Las Vegas and continued over the weekend in Naples, as Justin Leonard and Rory Sabbatini both showed up at the Franklin Templeton Shootout with RBladez Tour irons in their bag.
Leonard, a Tour Preferred Muscleback iron player for most of 2012, first tested RocketBladez Tour at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, as outlined previously here on Tour Diaries. The comfort level he first felt with the long irons translated nicely during testing at home in Texas, as Leonard quickly got comfortable with the entire set of RocketBladez Tour, from the 4-iron to the pitching wedge.
Also making the switch in Naples was TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Rory Sabbatini. Like Leonard, Sabbatini first tested the irons at Disney before continuing off-season work at home; he showed up at Tiburon raving about the new set and his excitement to get them in play against true tournament conditions.
From the Pro-Ams to the final putt on Sunday, it was a great first week for Sabbatini , who’s team finished second after a barrage of birdies led them to a score of 30-under par at Tiburon. With a growing list of players including Sergio Garcia, Sean O’Hair, Leonard and now Sabbatini switching to RocketBladez Tour irons, we’re extremely excited about the continued off-season testing of the new product and potential for “This Little Thing” on the tours worldwide in 2013.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to track the off-season progress and key equipment changes for our Tour Staff professionals around the world.
