In the last three months, a number of TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals including Justin Rose and Sean O’Hair have been testing, and playing, a new prototype Tour golf ball we’re calling Project 5. The successor to the PENTA TP5, Project 5 has made a huge impact with our Tour Staff professionals, starting in September when Rose first switched into the ball during the FedExCup Playoffs on the PGA Tour.
The early success stories with the both are numerous; already this off-season, the ball has twice won in competition, first when Rose captured the World Golf Final match play championship in early October and again Sunday, when Sean O’Hair used to ball to help win the Franklin Templeton Shark Shootout.
Although “Project 5” is a code name we’re using for the USGA conforming list – we’re keeping the real product name for our new Tour ball under wraps, for now – it’s no secret that the performance of the new product has been an instant winner with our Tour Staff. More than 10 PGA Tour professionals have switched from PENTA TP5 into the Project 5 ball this off-season and we anticipate more to come in preparation for the 2013 Tour season.
Stay tuned for more updates on Project 5 as we’ll be sure to keep you posted on testing, ball switches and unique player feedback throughout the off-season testing of the new prototype.
