SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It was only a few weeks ago that Ryan Moore debuted as a member of the TaylorMade PGA Tour Staff at the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions and has since capitalized on every opportunity to test and dial in new equipment in preparation for his second event of the season, the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Following the season opener in Hawaii, Moore worked extensively on product testing at home in Las Vegas and showed up at TPC Scottsdale having undergone a serious makeover to his 14-club setup.
Moore’s most significant changes include the addition of the new R1 driver and RocketBladez Tour irons, as well as a new RBZ Stage 2 fairway wood. With 168 total settings, the new R1 proved an easy fit for Moore, who last played the 2012 RBZ Tour driver at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Meanwhile, Moore has a unique setup in his RocketBladez Tour irons, as they’re equipped with SteelFiber shafts which are constructed with a combination of graphite and steel fiber. After testing a variety of shafts in the new RocketBladez Tour, Moore has settled on a makeup that gives him a penetrating, powerful, consistent ball flight and has loved the performance benefits he’s seen with the Speed Pocket, particularly in his long irons.
Moore, who earned his second career PGA Tour victory at the Shriners Hospitals Children’s Open last October, looks to capitalize on the momentum he built at the end of last season as he resumes play this week in Phoenix. We look forward to following his first full season on the TaylorMade PGA Tour staff; be on the lookout for his new equipment this week at TPC Scottsdale.
