We’re back with another edition of “Tune of the Week,” a regular showcase of the R1 driver settings you’ll find in the bags of our TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals, and this week we’re featuring Pat Perez. Perez, who uses a 8.75-degree R1 set to the No. 2 Closed position, also employs draw biased weighting (heel heavy) to help launch the ball down the line. After starting with the heavier weight in the toe last week at the Sony Open, Perez determined that heel weighting would help him flight the ball more consistently down the line and take the right side out of play.

The strategy is paying off this week at PGA West in La Quinta, California, as Perez (-7) opened with rounds of 68-69, hitting more than 70 percent of fairways in regulation on his way to the weekend at Humana.

Although the R1 driver doesn’t hit stores until February 1, you can already make it YOUR1 and explore 168 different settings using our online tuning web application or by downloading our new “R1 Virtual” mobile application.
