DORAL, Fla. — TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Bo Van Pelt showed up the WGC Cadillac Championship after a week off from his PGA Tour schedule ready to make a significant equipment change – putting the new RocketBladez Tour irons in his bag for the first time at Doral. Extensive testing early this season culminated with a very positive week with the RBladez Tour irons away from competition during last week’s Honda Classic and he showed up Monday at Doral wielding the new irons.
Van Pelt commented early this week that he’s been pleased with the total performance from the irons, gaining an edge in distance promoted by the speed pocket in his long irons while maintaining excellent dispersion throughout the set. He’s been especially happy with the consistency on mis-hits, as well as the steeper descent angle he’s been able to achieve with RocketBladez Tour, with a higher, penetrating trajectory letting him go after difficult pins with confidence.
Van Pelt worked with the irons throughout the week on the driving range at the WGC Cadillac Championship and used them exclusively in practice rounds at Doral, including one Tuesday with fellow TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Sergio Garcia – among the first players to switch to RocketBladez Tour irons last fall.
Be sure and lookout for BVP’s new irons this weekend at Doral as we expect Bo will make the official switch to the RocketBladez Tour irons on Thursday for his opening round at the WGC Cadillac.
