FORT WORTH, Texas — “We’re back. We finally made it back and it feels great.”

That was the message TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Boo Weekley delivered to the golf world on Sunday night after his third career PGA Tour victory, the latest coming in the form of the 2013 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, some five years removed from a breakthrough win at the same venue.

Weekley, who’s victory Sunday marks the 15th worldwide for the new R1 driver this season, navigated his way around Colonial with precise ballstriking and remarkable efficiency, finding 12/14 fairways in his final-round 66 to edge the field by one shot (-14). Ranked fourth in total driving on the PGA Tour, Weekley also counted on the all-around performance of the new Lethal golf ball every one of his 266 shots (67-67-66-66) last weekend at Colonial, from the opening tee shot to the final putt Sunday.

Weekley’s victory not only earned him a handsome purse of $1.1 million but vaulted his status to sixth position in the latest FedExCup Standings through 15 events already this season, including four top-10 finishes. The win was especially clutch considering Weekley jumped to No. 55 in the Official World Golf Rankings Monday- a position good for an automatic berth in the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion. Prior to his win, Weekley was well outside the bubble – moving nearly 50 spots overnight, from 111 to 55.
