Following last year’s double bill at Pinehurst, this year’s US Women’s Open heads to the Lancaster Country Club – and it will not be an easy test. Situated in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania, this William Flynn-design plays longer than its 6,850 yard may suggest, with up-slope landing spots on 14 of the 18 holes.

Accuracy off the tee will be a premium as you are most likely facing another uphill shot into a sloped-greens that are well-protected with greenside sand traps, and mystifying rough. In fact, an uphill 2nd shot awaits on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 18. The severe changes in landscape aren’t at the level of a Chambers Bay, but they are still noteworthy and make for a difficult trek.

The tournament-defining stretch begins on the 198-yard, par-3 eighth hole with a mind-numbingly narrow green, followed by the ninth hole – a 435-yard par-4 and then a 443-yard par-4 with an uphill second shot to a false-fronted green. The 11th follows this and at 478 yards with a treacherous bunker greenside left or a tricky chip on a severe downslope facing any player who misses the green.

Our TaylorMade Staffers will surely need their long games in check to navigate around this track to be in contention come Sunday afternoon.
